By the close of February, the Texas Workforce Commission reported the Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) area gained a total of 108,900 jobs during the past 12 months. Manufacturing and the trade, transportation and utilities sectors gained 10,400 jobs in Dallas and 7,000 jobs in Fort Worth. The resulting unemployment figures in Dallas and Fort Worth registered 6.4% and 6.2%, respectively, 0.8 percentage points lower than year ago totals and below the U.S. average of 8.1%.
