Strength in metro Denver’s economy has positively impacted the area’s industrial market. Nonfarm employment increased 3.1% year-over-year in February, for a net gain of 37,500 new jobs. Of these, 26.9% were added in sectors typically associated with industrial occupancy, including natural resources & construction (up 7.7% year-over-year, with a net increase of 5,200 positions), wholesale trade, transportation and utilities (up 3.9% by 4,200 jobs), and manufacturing (up 1.1% by 700 workers). Meanwhile, nonfarm sales were up 7.4% in the twelve months ending January 2013 compared to the same period one year ago. Manufacturing receipts were up 16.0% in this time frame to almost $11.8 billion, construction sales were up 13.7% to over $1.2 billion, wholesale trade rose 11.7% to $8.6 billion, and transportation and warehousing grew by 8.6% to $332.9 million.
