The national unemployment rate continues to improve for the third consecutive quarter, dropping by 0.2 percentage points (pp) from 7.8% in December to 7.6% in March 2013. The Hartford MSA unemployment rate increased 0.2 percentage points (pp) from fourth quarter to 8.4% as of March. The Hartford MSA witnessed a 0.4 pp decrease in unemployment when compared year-over-year. Since March 2012, Connecticut overall has also seen a decrease in the unemployment rate of 0.1pp to 8.0% as of March 2013, just a little above the national rate.
