A research produced by
New York City’s economy continues to be one of the healthiest in the nation. Since the recession ended, employment has climbed approximately 245,000 jobs, or 6.7%, far above the national total of 4.5%. However, in the first two months of 2013, employment in the office-using sector (financial services, professional and business services, and information) declined approximately 800 jobs from year-end 2012, offsetting growth in technology-related jobs. The local economy appears likely to grow at roughly the same pace as the rest of the nation during 2013.
