Healthy employment growth in the professional and business services and high technology sectors led to strong employment gains in Silicon Valley through March 2013 according to Moody’s Analytics’ latest estimates. Total employment grew by 2.7% year-over-year for the creation of 24,000 new jobs with the professional and business services sector rising by 3.1% followed by the high tech sector increasing by 2.2%. With strong employment growth, the area’s unemployment rate dropped to 7.6% in February 2013 from 9.2% one year ago, well below the state’s average of 9.7% and the U.S average of 8.1%.
