Healthy employment growth in the high technology sector led to strong employment gains in Silicon Valley through March 2013, according to Moody’s Analytics’ latest estimates. Total employment grew by 2.7%
year-over-year for the creation of 24,000 new jobs with the high tech sector increasing by 2.2%. With strong employment growth, the area’s unemployment rate dropped to 7.6% in February 2013 from 9.2% one year ago, well below the state’s average of 9.7% and the U.S average of 8.1%.
