The national unemployment rate continues to improve for the third consecutive quarter, dropping by 0.2 percentage points (pp) from 7.8% in December to 7.6% in March 2013. The New Haven MSA unemployment rate witnessed a decrease to 8.8%, as of February. This is a decrease of 0.1 pp from 8.9% reported in February 2012. Since fourth quarter the unemployment rate increased from 8.6%. Since March 2012, Connecticut overall has also seen a decrease in the unemployment rate of 0.1pp to 8.0% as of March 2013, just a little above the national rate.
