In the first five months of 2013, Chengdu’s retail sales totalled RMB151 billion, a year-on-year increase of 12.2%. The F&B sector experienced a slow growth of 4.9% during the same period, a result of falling revenues at high-end restaurants. According to the Sichuan Hospitality Industry Association, 95.0% of high-end restaurants experienced a decline in their revenue streams in February 2013, with an average decline of 45.0%.
