While some parts of the German economy are still suffering from short term weakness, above-inflation wage growth and a resilient labour market have now lifted consumer confidence to a five year high. GDP growth is also being supported by a rebound in business investment, with German companies benefiting from low interest rates and favourable credit conditions.
