The Long Island unemployment rate ended February at 7.6%, down 0.3 percentage points (pp) from one year ago and below the State’s unemployment rate of 8.8%. Over the past year, New York State manufacturing and construction employment declined by 14.400 jobs, 2.100 of which came from Long Island businesses. At the same time New York gained 10.900 jobs in the trade, transportation & utilities sector. Long island was responsible for 5.700 of these jobs.
