A report from Wells Fargo Securities described Nashville’s economy as a “standout performer” based on newly created jobs additional residents in the city. Forbes ranked Nashville No. 7 among the nation’s 51 largest metros based on the creation of more middle-income jobs than in 2007. Additionally, Tennessee came in at No. 5 on Site Selection magazine’s annual list of states with the best business climates, a three-spot gain from 2012. Combining these accolades with a population rate that increased at twice the rate of the national average, Nashville must position itself to sustain this economic momentum. Transportation continues to be at the forefront of economic discussions in an effort to address the city’s declining mobility prior to the anticipated future growth in population.
