The economies of the four counties that comprise the North Bay all expanded in 2013 on the heels of a healthy economic environment both locally and regionally. In addition to tourism being a major economic driver in the area, the trade, transportation and utilities sector was one of the best performing sectors in 2013 as the area’s competitive distribution network increases in importance.
Manufacturing employment was also up across all four countries on a year-over-year basis, translating to healthy demand prospects for the local industrial markets. The four-county area boasts some of the lowest unemployment rates in the state, adding to the strength of these markets.
