Broward County, FL : Industrial Snapshot - Q1 2014

Broward County’s economy continues to improve with the latest 2014 unemployment figures coming in at 5.5% and demonstrating another positive quarter for the county. The Broward metropolitan area added 8,056 jobs in February, marking the fourth consecutive month of positive month-over-month employment growth. The increase was boosted by seasonal holiday employment. Over the trailing 12-month period, a total of 41,605 payroll jobs were added, marking a 1.4% growth rate. Year-to-date, the construction industry led all sectors in employment growth at 9.5%.

Pre-recession employment levels will likely not be surpassed until 2015 but hiring will continue to increase. Steady job growth, increased consumer confidence and business expansions indicate that the economic recession seems to be in the rear-view mirror.
