In the first quarter of 2014, the economy in Tampa Bay, where Pinellas County is located, continued to expand, but the pace slowed from the higher tempo experienced in 2013. Job growth continued to be positive, but at a slower rate, creating only 5,300 new positions during the first three months of the year.
Over the past twelve month period, the area added an impressive 30,000 new jobs. While many area industries experienced moderate job growth during the first quarter, the office-using industry sectors added 2,600 new jobs so far this year. Despite the positive growth in office-using employment, the office market in Pinellas County showed only minimal improvements since year-end.
