The unemployment rate in the four-county North Bay region (Marin, Sonoma, Napa, and Solano Counties) ended June at 5.1%, according to the California Employment Development Department, down 200 basis points (bps) from 7.1% recorded one year ago. During the last 12 months, industrial sectors experienced moderate growth with manufacturing leading the way by creating 1,400 new jobs for a 3.5% growth rate. Approximately 400 new construction jobs were added for a 2.2% growth rate, and the trade, transportation & utilities sector added 1,000 new jobs, an increase of 1.9%.
