The Greater Philadelphia region’s unemployment rate improved to 6.7% in the third quarter of 2014, down from 8.0% a year ago at this time. Over the past 12 months, the Philadelphia MSA’s job growth increased by 0.9% compared to the national growth rate of 1.8%.
The education and health services (+2.2%), trade, transportation and utilities (+1.4%), and professional and business services (+1.3%) sectors saw the largest gains over the past year in the Philadelphia MSA.
