Take-up in the first quarter of the year in Brussels marketplace totalled 89,100 m². This represents a growth of 33% compared to the previous quarter and a year-on-year increase of 18%. However, this strong figure should be seen in perspective. Indeed, the positive result was largely due to the completion of a transaction of over 30,000 m² emanating from the public sector. The first quarter draws the contours of the year 2016: a market dynamic unchanged compared to the previous year but boosted by several large deals from the public sector.
Accounting for 40% of take-up, the public sector was relatively active. Almost mainly translated by one transaction, the acquisition by the municipality of Brussels of the De Ligne building totalizing 30,500 m² (City Centre).
