The Orange County economy continues to be one of the strongest in California. The county’s employers added 3,800 workers in the past 12 months in May — a gain of 0.2%. Although this is the smallest advance in the streak that dates back to August 2010, it still exceeds the average hiring pace of 2,700 per month since the recession ended. Meanwhile, the Southern California ports continue to post impressive numbers. Container trade volume at the combined Los Angeles and Long Beach ports was up 6.6% year to date as of May, and 2017 remains on pace to be a record-setting year
