St. Louis’ seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady at 4.7%, slightly below the national average of 4.8% in the fourth quarter. Office-using employment reached record highs during the fourth quarter at 332,100 jobs. The sectors of financial and professional business services alone generated over 1,200 and 5,800 additional jobs respectively in 2016. With job growth remaining steady, vacancy rates in St. Louis are approaching unprecedented lows. Market conditions remain robust and the momentum should continue into 2017.
