The Baltimore Metropolitan Area unemployment continues to trend lower than the national average. The unemployment rate inched up .1 % to 4.3%, well off the highs of 2010 when the unemployment rate hit 8.4%. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics the leading employment sector for the metropolitan area is Education and Health services growing a healthy 3.7 percent year-over-year. Strong business confidence should continue to stabilize the unemployment rate as companies look to expand their workforce over the coming quarters.
