In the wake of the credit crunch the student market is rapidly expanding, + 3.7%, in 2009-10 a level of growth not reached since 1993 (+6.4%). 2.32 million students integrated higher school last year, of which 284,659 were international students. The share of international students is currently 12%. Student housing provision is currently made up of an estimated total of 342,500 rooms, which is clearly insufficient compared to the 1.3 million students wishing to live independently.
