By the close of February, Houston’s employment gains year-over-year reached 118,700 jobs; some of the highest in the nation and representing a growth rate of 4.5%. All sectors of the Houston job market recorded positive growth year-over-year, with the largest gains in trade transportation and utilities (24,000 jobs), education and health services (17,400 jobs), and leisure and hospitality (15,600 jobs). Sectors hardest hit by the recession, such as construction, also showed strong growth with 13,200 jobs added.
