New Jersey nominally added 12,900 jobs this past month, pushing the unemployment rate down to 9.3%. However, it remains well above the national average. Since a year ago, the state has added almost 45,000 private sector jobs. Despite this, it has only recaptured about 40.0% of the jobs lost during the recession. In the northern part of the state, there were 23,100 non-farm jobs added during 2012 with the professional and business services, trade, transportation and utilities, and educational and health services sectors leading the way.
