Retail sales in the second quarter have been mixed thus far, with working day and seasonally adjusted annual growth positive in April (1.2%) but negative in May (3.3%). The latest figures were driven primarily by a double-digit decline in fuels sold in specialised shops. Elsewhere, non-food sales fell marginally (0.1%), while food, beverages and tobacco rose by 0.3% compared with the same month in 2012.
