Private equity real estate continues to have strong quarterly total returns, with the NPI achieving 3.3 percent in the third quarter 2011.
Private equity real estate is the top performing major asset class year-to-date. NPI and NFI-ODCE returns topped public equities and bonds during the first three quarters of the year.
Apartment properties continue to outperform, but industrial and retail properties also posted stronger results. The spread between the top performing property type and the bottom performing type narrowed this quarter.
