The current unemployment rate for the Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk metropolitan area is 6.4%, 0.9 percentage points (pp) below the rate recorded last year and 0.3 pp below the current U.S. national rate of 6.7%. Key sectors driving employment growth have included professional & business services and education & health services, adding 3,200 and 2,600 jobs respectively, since year-end 2012. Despite gains in employment, the financial services sector lost approximately 900 jobs since this time last year.
