The Long Island unemployment rate is currently 5.4%, down 1.7 percentage points from one year ago and 1.5 pp lower than New York State’s rate. Nassau County’s unemployment rate dropped to 5.1%, down 1.9 percentage points from one year ago while Suffolk County’s rate dipped 1.5 pp during the same period to 5.6%. From November 2012-November 2013 the private sector added 31,900 jobs.
