Metro Phoenix added 25,400 jobs in November, marking the fourth consecutive month of positive month-over-month employment growth. The increase was boosted by seasonal holiday employment. Over the trailing 12-month period, a total of 41,600 payrolls were added, marking a 2.3% growth rate.

According to the Arizona State University W.P. Carey School of Business, this growth rate ranks Phoenix eighth nationally, just behind New York City and ahead of Boston. Year to date, the construction industry led all sectors in employment growth at 7.2%. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for November was 6.7%, 20 basis points (bps) lower than a year ago and 30 bps below the national rate.
