U.S. employers finally recovered the 8.8 million jobs lost during the recession, according to numbers released by the Labor Department, driving national unemployment down to 6.7%. Statewide and Indianapolis MSA unemployment rates fell to 6.1% and 6.2% respectively. Another promising sign for the local office market was the addition of 6,000 jobs in office-using industries since last year. Job growth in these industries, which include financial activities and professional and business services, has traditionally been an indicator of future positive office absorption.
