The Charlotte MSA once again saw an improving economic environment during Q1, with local unemployment reaching 6.4%. This represents the largest year-over-year drop in unemployment (-2.6 percentage points) of any large metro area in the United States. In addition, Mecklenburg County saw an increase in the labor force, reflecting continued in-migration from other parts of the country. For the period from July 2012 to July 2013, CNN Money ranked Charlotte as the eighth fastest growing city in the US.
