Chicago-Suburban, IL : Office Snapshot - Q4 2013

A research produced by

The Chicago Metropolitan area ended the year with an unemployment rate of 8.8%, down 0.1 percentage points year-over-year, but still significantly higher than the 7.0% national rate. The region is forecasted to grow by over 60,000 jobs in 2014, but recent company acquisitions could put a damper on this growth. Two large office space occupiers were bought by other companies – OfficeMax merged with Office Depot and Sysco acquired US Foods. Office Max’s headquarters in Naperville will close with the combined company headquarters being located in Boca Raton, Florida, but Sysco has yet to release plans for the US Foods’ Rosemont headquarters.
