According to the Hellenic Statistical Authority, retail sales volumes continued on their downward trajectory in the first month of the year. Sales fell by 4.3% in January on the same month in 2013, fuelled by a 7.2% and 2.7% decline in the sale of food and non-food products respectively. The only positive note of the month was the increase in automotive fuel where sales rose by 1.3% year-on-year.
