Charlotte has continued to see a great deal of momentum in the local economy over the past 18 months. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that Charlotte MSA unemployment rate ended the month of April at 6.0%, down from 9.5% to start the year 2013; a nearly 37% decrease. This marks the lowest point the MSA has seen since June of 2008. Since the beginning of the year, the manufacturing sector gained 1,100 new jobs while the trade, transportation, and utilities sector and professional and business services sector have added 1,400 and 3,100 jobs respectively.
