Take-up in the Düsseldorf office market in the first three months of 2016 totalled 124,000 m², thus continuing last year's upward trend. The result improved on the prior-year figure by one-third, and also exceeded the long-year average by the same proportion. Within the Düsseldorf municipal boundaries, take-up – at 116,000 m² – represented an even sharper year-on-year increase of nearly 66 %. In contrast, the turnover of 8,000 m² posted by the periphery was far below the level reached in the first quarter of 2015. One substantial contribution to the overall performance was a major lease for 27,600 m² in the Medienhafen concluded by the Uniper energy group. Another factor was the large number of contracts registered in the 2,000- 5,000 m² size class, which was by itself responsible for almost one quarter of all take-up.
