It will be very difficult for Western economies, particularly in Europe, to escape recession. This is the alarming prediction made by economist Nouriel Roubini at the Rethink 2022 conference, organised by the EPRA from 6 to 8 September in Paris. A small ray of hope for the members of the association representing European listed real estate companies, meeting in person for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic, is that real estate may have a card to play as a hedge in the coming macroeconomic turmoil.
