While there is an abundance of uncertainty in the global economy, CBRE’s Office Capital Value Index for Q1 2012 shows fairly strong annual growth rates. On a year-overyear basis, the Index is up 5.7% globally. Of particular note is the strength of the Americas and Asia Pacific regions, which recorded 9.6% and 8.0% year-over-year gains, respectively. Holding back the global average is the barely positive 0.7% gain for EMEA, reflecting the continuing debt and economic angst in Europe.
However, faced with stubborn economic uncertainties, the gains during the last year are significantly lower than those recorded a year earlier. Only the Americas region has performed in accordance with its earlier pace, while Asia Pacific and EMEA have slowed significantly.
