The New Jersey unemployment rate fell to 9.3% in February as employers created 12,900 jobs throughout the month, decreasing slowly for the sixth consecutive month. The rate is down by 0.2 percentage points from January’s rate, despite remaining 1.6 percentage points above the national rate. Five of the nine major industry sectors posted job gains in February, with much of the employment gains recorded in the education & health services and information sectors. During 2012, Central NJ job gains accounted for approximately half of the state’s total.
