According to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office, GDP - in volume terms - increased by 0.9% in 2012. There was almost no change in GDP in Q4 2012 compared to the previous quarter. The volume of retail sales increased 0.3% in February 2013 over January while there was no change in the annual figure. Sectors with the largest growth included Other Retail Sales (+1.5%), Non Specialised stores (+0.6%) and Food, Beverages & Tobacco-specialised stores (+0.5), while Books, Newspapers & Stationary (-2.6%) and Electrical Goods (-1.2%) saw decreases.
