The national unemployment rate continues to improve for the third consecutive quarter, dropping by 0.2 percentage points (pp) from 7.8% in December to 7.6% in March 2013. New Hampshire’s unemployment rate increased to 5.8%, up 0.4 pp since last quarter. In a year-over-year comparison the unemployment rate increased 0.5 pp, from 5.3% in February 2012. Although the increase in unemployment may seem cause for alarm, it is still 1.8 pp below the national average.
