Annual supply in 2013 reached the highest level since 2009; intensive construction activity continues into 2014 with expected supply pipeline of more than 160,000 sq m. Highest annual supply was recorded from Prague, Olomouc and Teplice. Due to the completion of Galerie Šantovka in Q4 (46,000 sq m), Olomouc has recorded a significant increase in the retail space saturation to 1.38 sq m per inhabitant. During 2014 sharp increases in saturation will be recorded also in other cities.
Due to predicted economic recovery economists forecast an increase in consumer expenditure in 2014. This will positively influence also retail sales. Persisting unemployment will however dampen a sharp rise in spending.
Prime high streets are predicted to continue increasing during 2014.
