According to a recent study by KPMG, among metropolitan areas with 1 million to 2 million residents, Nashville is the second most cost-attractive city for business relocations. Combining business costs that are 5.1 percent lower than the national average with a strong labor pool and quality of life, Nashville has tremendous growth potential. Although Nashville boasts many economic factors that are well-ahead of national performance, the market continues to lag in terms of unemployment. The February unemployment rate for Tennessee was 6.9 percent, down from 7.9 percent in January. The state has seen six straight months of declines and has the lowest rates since 2008, indicating continued improvement.
