According to Eurostat, following a negative period towards the end of 2013, retail sales in the country stabilised in January before growing again in February. Indeed, retail sales volumes stagnated in the first month of 2014 but then proceeded to grow by 1.7% in February year-on-year. That being said, retailers are rather pessimistic about their sales performance over the first quarter of 2014.
