The Chicago-Joliet-Naperville Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) workforce added approximately 47,480 non-farm payroll jobs over the last year with the highest gains attributed to education and health services, and professional and business services. For the seventh consecutive month, the local unemployment rate continued to improve and stood at 8.4% at the end of February. Despite the improvement, the unemployment rate was still higher than the national average of 6.7%.
