The state’s unemployment rate held steady at 6.8%, although down 1.6 percentage points since last year. However, the decline can partially be attributed to more than 6,000 people leaving the work force in the last year.
A lack of substantial gains by key industry drivers (business and professional and financial services) of the state’s office market have kept the state from seeing significant improvements in occupancy levels. Private sector employment, however has seen a modest improvement during the last year.
