San Francisco continues to host one of the strongest economies in the country. The employment base grew by 2.6% in the year ending in March with the addition of 27,200 new jobs, according to the California Employment Development Department. As a result of this strong employment growth, San Francisco’s unemployment rate was 5.1% as of the end of March, well below the state average of 8.4% and national average of 6.8%.
