The unemployment rate in Tampa (Hillsborough County) was 6.1% in September, down seven-tenths of a percentage point over the past twelve months. A total of 15,600 new area-wide non-agricultural jobs were added during that time, increasing the work force by 1.3%. Jobs in the manufacturing sector were up 2.7%, higher than the statewide growth rate while construction sector jobs were up 3.7% year-over-year.
