Germany Logistics Market Property Report 2016

Take-up in the German warehouse and logistics premises market set a new record in 2015 with a total of almost 6 million m², surpassing the previous all-time high of 2011 (5.84 million m²) by a substantial margin.

Together, the major markets generated nearly 2.53 million m², equivalent to a yearon-year increase of 12 %. Out in front was Hamburg (595,000 m²), ahead of Berlin (470,000 m²) and Frankfurt (463,000 m²); lower totals than the year before were posted by Munich (241,000 m²) and Cologne (167,000 m²).

Outside the main metropolises, turnover – at just under 3.46 million m² – was also far higher than in 2014 (+18 %), but developments in the individual logistics regions varied considerably.
