The January 2016 RICS/Ci PHMS shows a gentle pick up in new buyer demand across the sales market during January, following a broadly flat picture in December. In the lettings market, the widening gap between strong tenant demand and falling landlord instructions has driven a further acceleration in rental growth.
Focusing on the sales market, new buyer enquiries edged up at the headline level, with Lisbon and the Algarve seeing an increase in demand. New buyer enquiries in Porto, on the other hand, reportedly dipped over the month. At the same time, the national sales indicator suggests sales volumes were more or less unchanged for the second consecutive report. That said, estate agents did see a modest rise in transactions during January, while developers noted a drop in sales.
