Vacant office space is becoming a rare sight in Germany’s major cities. Demand for office space remained very high throughout the summer of this year, contributing to a decline in the vacancy rates in the top six office markets to 6.0%, the lowest level since 2001. Companies seeking office space larger than approximately 1,000 sq m in central locations are faced with effectively no availability in the existing building stock. This shortage is resulting in an increased focus on secondary locations and a consequent decline in vacancies in these areas.
