The Baltimore Metropolitan area unemployment continues trending lower than the national average. Baltimore’s unemployment rate however, has increased 20 basis points (BP) from 4.3% to 4.5% year-over-year.
The manufacturing sector continues to expand. The Institute for Supply Mangement’s (ISM) Purchasing Mangers’ index, shows continued growth, reporting 57.8% for the month of June, an increase of 2.9 percentage points from May. The top three growth manufacturing industries in June were the Furniture & Related Products, Nonmetallic Mineral Products and Paper Products.
